(A Gardening Club Just For Kids)
We at Van Putte Gardens are often asked the question "what's best for the environment?" Although the answers can be endless, one thing we can do for the environment is teach our children how to love and respect nature. Over the years we have learned that the immediate and long-term benefits of encouraging children to plant and maintain their own gardens are enormous.
In December of 1994, Van Putte Gardens established a Grow Club Just for Kids! We believe the garden is an excellent place to encourage a child's creativity and self-discipline. Our grow club is free, open to children ages 5 – 12 and easy to join!
Some benefits are:
- The club meets two times a year and creates a fun seasonal project.
- Each member receives a special birthday gift.
- Children can learn from experts about seeds, plants, gardening, bird feeding and much more!
Our meetings expose children to the beauty of nature with various activities designed to appeal to several different age groups. You'll be surprised what you can learn in a child's garden, and the opportunity to hear a child's thoughts will help you guide their personal growth as well as their gardening growth.
